What LYD Plumber does for a handyman business

LYD Plumber gives a handyman or property maintenance business an AI receptionist, instant texts for missed calls, quick quotes from customer photos, a CRM that follows up and rebooks repeat customers, and a website that only advertises the work you are allowed to do in your state.

Rules of the trade

Built around handyman licence limits

  • New South Wales: residential building work over $5,000, including labour, materials and GST, needs a contractor licence.
  • Queensland: a handyman may do building work up to $3,300 without a QBCC licence, as long as it is not electrical or plumbing work.
  • Victoria: domestic building work over $10,000 needs registration with the Building and Plumbing Commission.
  • Western Australia: builder work over $20,000 generally needs a registered building services contractor.
  • Plumbing, gasfitting and electrical work always need a licensed tradesperson, whatever the job value.

General information only, checked November 2026. Thresholds and exemptions change: confirm with your state regulator before quoting. LYD Plumber does not give licensing advice.

Questions

Questions handymen ask

  • Yes. Handyman websites only list the work you are licensed or permitted to do in your state, and the CRM can warn you before you quote a job above your state licence limit.
  • Each quote has a value field. When a quote approaches the limit for your state, the CRM alerts you before you send it, so you can bring in a licensed builder or check your own licence. Limits differ by state, for example $5,000 in New South Wales and $3,300 in Queensland.
  • Yes. The missed-call text and website chat can ask customers to text photos of the job, which land in your inbox against their contact record.
  • Yes. Contacts can be tagged by property and manager, and repeat maintenance reminders and campaigns can go to each group.
  • The trial is on the Launch plan. There is no set-up fee, and the AI receptionist and chatbots are included. Your card is taken at sign-up and charged on day 31 unless you cancel. During the trial you get our ready-made template set-up; the full done-for-you set-up starts when you pay.
  • Plans start at $50 + GST a month for Starter. Launch is $170 + GST a month on annual billing or $190 month to month, Elevate is $460 or $529, and Dominate is $710 or $749. Custom plans are quoted after a discovery call.
