Who regulates plumbing

Consumer and Business Services (CBS), with the Office of the Technical Regulator. CBS licenses contractors and registers plumbers; the Technical Regulator oversees certificates of compliance.

To contract for plumbing work in SA you need a contractor licence (plumbing, or a building work contractor licence that covers plumbing), and to do the work yourself you also need a plumber registration.

Paperwork that applies

• Plumbing work is certified with an electronic certificate of compliance (eCoC), lodged online with the Office of the Technical Regulator. These are legal documents, and the property owner must receive one.
• Check the Office of the Technical Regulator for the current lodgement timeframe.

Handyman licence limit
