For Gold Coast plumbers and handymen

Gold Coast trades work for owner-occupiers, landlords, holiday letting managers and body corporates, often on the same street. LYD Plumber gives Gold Coast plumbing and handyman businesses an AI receptionist, missed-call text-back, a CRM and a website, set up for Queensland rules: Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) as the regulator, and reminders for the paperwork that applies there.

What is different in Gold Coast

Built around how Gold Coast trades work

Property managers and strata

Repeat work comes through managers. Keeping each property, its manager and its service history in one place makes quoting and invoicing faster.

QBCC rules

Handymen can do building work up to $3,300 without a QBCC licence, but never plumbing or electrical work. The CRM can flag quotes that get close.

Typical service area we set up: The Gold Coast, from Coomera to Coolangatta and the hinterland.

QLD rules at a glance

Plumbing and handyman rules in Queensland

Who regulates plumbing

Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC). Licenses plumbers, drainers and building contractors.

Plumbing and drainage are occupational work in Queensland. An occupational licence is needed to perform or supervise plumbing or drainage work at any value, and a QBCC contractor licence is needed to contract for it.

Paperwork that applies

  • Notifiable plumbing and drainage work is registered with the QBCC on a Form 4 (or Form 4A for public sector work) within 10 business days of completing the work. The clock usually starts when the invoice is issued.
  • Forms can be lodged through the QBCC Portal, and a nominated representative can register work on a licensee behalf.

Handyman licence limit

Up to $3,300 needs a licence or registration

A handyman does not need a QBCC licence for building work valued at $3,300 or less, as long as it is not electrical or plumbing work and does not need an occupational licence.
