State guide
In Victoria, plumbing work is regulated by Building and Plumbing Commission (BPC). LYD Plumber gives VIC plumbing and handyman businesses an AI receptionist, missed-call text-back, a CRM and a website, with reminders built around VIC paperwork and handyman licence limits.
VIC rules at a glance
Building and Plumbing Commission (BPC). Replaced the Victorian Building Authority (VBA) on 1 July 2025.
The Building and Plumbing Commission began on 1 July 2025, bringing together the functions of the VBA, Domestic Building Dispute Resolution Victoria and the domestic building insurance arm of the VMIA. Victorian plumbers hold either a registration or a higher-level licence in each class of work, and only a licensed plumber can sign a compliance certificate.
More than $10,000 needs a licence or registration
Domestic building work costing more than $10,000, including labour and materials, needs a builder registered with the BPC, and the same value triggers a major domestic building contract.
